National University of Ireland at Maynooth

NUI-Maynooth is located in the quiet suburb of Maynooth, fifteen miles from Dublin. The college, founded in 1795, became recognized as a College of the National University of Ireland in 1910, and since 1966 has been open to lay students of the arts, science, philosophy, Celtic studies, and theology. Roughly 4,000 students attend NUI-Maynooth. Facilities offered include a gymnasium, a weight room, playing fields, a student union and other recreational services. The city of Maynooth offers a variety of shops and traditional Irish pubs, and is only a bus ride from Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. In addition, excursions to Limerick, Galway, and Belfast are within three hours' travel by train. The program provides a variety of field trips and student activities.
